Creative Content Developer

MISSION AND ORGANIZATIONAL BACKGROUND

In 2010 the Refugee Response was established.  Since inception the organization has been able to provide unique and important services to Cleveland’s new neighbors allowing children and families to excel in school and in life. Refugees resettled to Cleveland do better on average than those who resettle in other areas of the country.  They work and they overwhelmingly give back to the city, making the most of the investment Cleveland places in them. 

At present the Refugee Response provides a range of educational, employment and social support services for an estimated 180 individuals (70+ families) in the greater Cleveland area.  Our programs focus on in-depth understandings of the families and the unique challenges that resettled families face when adjusting to a new environment.

SALARY

$32,000 - $37,000 per year with benefits

 

OVERVIEW

The Creative Content Developer (CCD) will be responsible for a new aspect of the work of the organization. This work is to produce original educational and promotional content for the variety of programs of the Refugee Response.  This content will be targeted to clients, customers, supporters and the general public. The work will be determined based on priority and the schedule will be set in coordination with the CCD at the Executive Director and will be planned quarter to quarter over the course of 2020.  

The expectation is that content production designed for clients is appropriate, accessible, and clearly communicates the central purpose of the content.  Content developed for clients is expected to have quick turnaround times while meeting an acceptable standard of production quality. The CCD will have access to a variety of translators in order to ensure that audio content is produced in the home language of the families being served. 

The CCD is a part of the organizational support team led by the executive director providing support services to the three program team, the youth education team, the adult program team and the Ohio city farm.  Content will be created for wide and consistent dissemination to clients and families receiving support services. The CCD will be responsible to develop content based upon the specifications of teams. The CCD will lead production meetings project by project with different teams and develop an original media piece for quick turnaround and release. The CCD will deliver a draft product to the team commissioning the work before final release. 

 

The ideal candidate is able to build dynamic and meaningful content based upon the specifications provided by the teams.  The ideal candidate is able to understand the need to create a steady volume of content and distribution while ensuring production quality.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Content Design, Development and Dissemination 

  • Utilize a variety of storytelling methods- including but not limited to photography, video, animation, and social media- to communicate Refugee Response’s impact to donors and customers

  • Work with project teams to identify information needs in the refugee community 

  • Develop planning and production schedule for content based upon projects following the priority determined by the organization 

  • Conduct consultation meetings with teams in order to develop a clear scope of work for each project

  • Create a draft of each project to share with the team for feedback and adjustment before final release

  • Test prototypes and drafts of each project with end-users, and iterate based on user feedback

  • Finalize projects meeting necessary requirements and disseminate using the most appropriate platform or distribution system based upon target audience

  • Ensure appropriate turnaround time for projects

Problem Solving and Innovation 

  • Anticipate common challenges and prepare strategies for mitigating gaps in implementation 

  • Communicate with the Executive Director to strategize for problem solving 

  • Promote innovative ideas which are directly relevant to client attainment 

 

Cross Organizational Collaboration 

  • Be an active member of the Refugee Response and actively participate in organizational activities 

  • Identify opportunities for cross organizational collaboration that will benefit the clients enrolled in the program 

 

Support to Organizational Development and Fundraising Events

  • Provide support, insight and assistance to all adult program development prospects 

  • Assist the leadership team in program development for non-adult programming

  • Provide 40 hours of support to events and donor activities over the course of a year

AVAILABILITY

  • Start Date: Mid to Late November 2019

  • Flexible scheduling to accommodate weekend and evening work as needed (up to 25%), including orientation events, trainings, beneficiary home visits for observations and seasonal student onboarding

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Understand the necessity for expedient production while maintaining quality

  • Have demonstrated experience in high volume media content creation and distribution 

  • Ability to create original media content for quick turn around

  • Strong media and communication skills with knowledge of a variety of programs and apps for creating original content

  • Strong story telling skills and demonstrated ability to turn information into narrative 

  • Ability to conceptualize, plan and implement consistent with values and goals of the organization
