Family Engagement Coordinator
Kate is passionate about fostering vibrant, sustainable and resilient communities by facilitating connections and bridging cultural differences. At the Refugee Response she works to further the organization’s commitment to placing the voices of resettled families at the center of decision making and programming, with the primary clients being those families enrolled in the Home Mentoring Program. She first had the pleasure of working with Cleveland’s refugee communities as a TRR home mentor and Ohio City Farm volunteer.
Prior to joining the Refugee Response, Kate worked as an educator, program developer, project coordinator and gardener at Cleveland Botanical Garden. During her time at the garden she worked to expand inclusive programming, creating the garden’s first event for English language learners, integrating children’s garden programs with public events, and working with community partners to support inclusive work-study and volunteer opportunities. Kate has created, implemented and developed programs for children, adolescents and adults.
Kate received a Bachelor of Arts from Kenyon College with a major in Anthropology and minors in both Chinese and Environmental Studies.
