Michael Bartunek

Senior Farm Manager

Michaels seeks to share his love of working with nature through organic farming with the Greater Cleveland community. As the Senior Farm Manager of The Ohio City Farm he oversees a farming system that offers reliable and competitive work opportunities for resettled refugees. This is made possible through community support, thoughtful crop selection and planning, creative season extension practices, and solid team work.

Michael has a professional background in outdoor adventure programming and team building. He developed outdoor programs for the large non-profit, Koinonia Homes. This work included an organic gardening program for adults with developmental disabilities. In addition, he designed and managed Rising Harvest Farms and Community Garden in Old Brooklyn which provided organic produce to the community through a CSA program, farmers market, and restaurant sales. He is the owner of Grow at Home, LLC. which plans, builds, and manages organic gardens in Northeast Ohio.

EDUCATION

Michael graduated from Kent State University with a B.A. in Geography and a concentration in land management and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). He later graduated with a certificate from Growing Power's Commercial Urban Agriculture Program in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
